You almost caught me the time I came home late with packages. I had to hide behind the curtains. I could tell that my feet showed out the bottom, but you didn’t notice. (65)

Wow, you are amazing. I had to check my calendar to make sure it was still Monday. Great teaser. I am easily startled, so I would certainly not appreciate a roommate who enjoyed hiding behind the curtains. My interest is piqued.
Rebecca, I am nominating you for an award.

We're a day ahead -- how fun.
This is from Shooting an Albatross by Steven Lundin and set in 1943 in Hollywood, while the US Army "occupied" a golf course there.
P. 213 -- "After taking the miserable walk home that
morning, she went straight to the desk upstairs in her room
and wrote from her heart to his."
" While he performed his duties to ready the battalion for his departure, he did so with withdrawn attention, a distracted demeanor and an unsettled heart."
Fun read, and there's suspense, romance, and even golf.
Hi!
Sounds interesting! Why are they hiding behind a curtain. I'll have to check this out. Have a great day!
