Musing Monday (Feb 15)

Musing Mondays2Today’s MUSING MONDAYS post is about a reference material.

Do you keep reference books on your shelves at home? What’s your first port of call when you need information – the internet or a book?

PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT with either the link to your own Musing Mondays post, or share your opinion in a comment here (if you don’t have a blog). Thanks.

I do keep some reference books on hand, though I’ll admit to most of them being book or craft related.

If it’s something specific I want to know the answer to (eg. “How tall is the Eiffel Tower?”) I tend to prefer the internet – Google is my friend. If I’m looking at something broader, wanting to learn more about a general subject, then I usually head of the the library for a while.

What about you?

I use the library almost daily - but generally to check out books (fiction, non-fiction - any and all).

If there is a particular question I have that I want to 'document' or photocopy from a book, I will spend some time in our library in the reference section.

When I was younger I loved getting my hands on a book or encyclopedia from the library to answer a question, but now-a-days most of my information comes from the internet. But answering this question made me think about it another way - do people usually stick to just one search engine or do they bounce around? If you have a thought, jump over to my response here -

Hi Rebecca,
I'm like you, Google is my favorite search place, but the library can't be beat for finding that certain something you can't find. Mine is posted at my place, Just Books. Have a great day!
