Musing Mondays (March 29)

Musing Mondays2Today’s MUSING MONDAYS post is about multitasking.

Do you – or are you even able – to do other things while you read? Do you knit, hold a conversation, keep an eye on the TV? Anything?

PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT with either the link to your own Musing Mondays post, or share your opinion in a comment here (if you don’t have a blog). Thanks.

Week before last I had a birthday present to knit up that – I’ll admit – I had left to late. Several people I talked to said they couldn’t imagine me having any problems, after all, I’d just knit while I read right?

I can’t quite manage this – I don’t have enough hands for the book and the needles and, well, it’s just not pretty (and I know, you’re going to suggest audio books, I’m just not entirely sold yet).

In fact, while I consider myself to be a fairly skilled multi-tasker. There isn’t actually a great deal I can do while reading – not beyond listening to a bit of music anyway.

I would love to be able to knit while I read all the time, but I can only manage it with hefty hardbacks that can sit open on my lap on their own. Paperbacks definitely don't work for this!

I don't knit, rather I crochet and I can barely do it with both hands and eyes on the yarn and hook. I do often watch TV and read at the same time...always have.

I can imagine knitting & reading at the same time would be difficult!

I usually have my laptop on next to me while I read, and take small breaks to check email/twitter/blogs.

It depends. Music is fine, TV is a no. Knitting???
My musing is up. :)

No matter what I like to tell myself, the only thing I can actually do while reading is listen to music. Hahaha, even trying to hold a conversation is probably not going to go well if I'm in the middle of a great book. But you can check out my whole response on my blog, Reading Amidst the Chaos.

Remember the old game concentrate? That's my game when I am reading.

I'm pretty A.D.D, so it doesn't often work out so well when I try to read and do other things at the same time -- my answer is here. ;)

I tend to leave things to late and it drives me nuts. I multi task as much as I can by blogging and watching tv.... reading during meals....

The only way I've found it physically possible to read and knit at the same time is having an ebook on my laptop so I don't need to actually hold it. Being able to concentrate on both is pretty easy for me as I don't really have to pay that much attention to knitting lol (as long as I'm not doing a complicated pattern or anything)

Audio books are much easier though.

I have yet to try knitting even while listening to an audiobook - I think I still might get too distracted.

I can barely have the TV on in the background, I can't imagine trying to knit while reading! That takes major talent.

Here's my answer.

I hope everyone has a great Monday!

I don't multitask while I read a book (in less it's an audio book, then I'm cleaning, running, errands... just about anything).

Yesterday while running I saw a women reading a book and walking around the lake! Not sure I understand this....

I dont knit, but i'd imagine that is not an easy thing to do while reading..hehe..
